The materials in this category share two properties that shape how they are bought. First, the number on the label is not the product: two yttrium-oxide lots at the same purity behave as different materials if one is submicron and one is several microns, so a specification that stops at "4N" has not yet chosen a product. Second, several of these items ship out of China only under an export licence, so the licence procedure — classification, application, end-user certificate — is part of the lead time whether or not anyone planned for it. We treat both as our work: grades are separated by the parameter that actually divides the applications (particle size for yttrium oxide, item and form for the salts), every lot ships against a method-stated COA, and where an item falls under Chinese export control we run the licence and EUC procedure — or, where applicability is unclear, determine it per item before replying.
